GCL Diesel has an exceptional turbo repair department.

It is important to accept that not all turbochargers are repairable. Many might claim this not to be the case but the risk in repairing turbochargers far outweighs any price advantage gained.

Turbochargers such as the BorgWarner VGT (Variable Turbine Technology), Holset VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger), Garrett VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbine), and IHI VG (Variable Geometry) have highly complex design which make it very difficult to remanufacture with any degree of reliability due to the major manufacturers not providing component parts to the aftermarket. Our turbo repair and remanufacture program is specifically for those turbochargers that are repairable.

Because we remanufacture to the same quality, standards, and specifications of the original equipment turbo, you can be confident that our customer repair or exchange turbocharger will meet or exceed original equipment standards.

50-Point Quality Checklist

Each and EVERY turbo repaired by GCL Diesel is subject to this checklist, and all turbochargers carry a 1-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

Compressor Cover

  • Compressor inlet, outlet flanges
  • Bearing housing, backplate mating surface
  • Contour free of gouges
  • Compressor wheel to housing contour tolerance
  • Noise baffle secure and free of debris
  • Annual slot free of debris

Compressor Wheel

  • Blades free of bends or fractures
  • Rubbing or foreign object induced damage on blade profile
  • Bore area tolerance and finish
  • Nose cone and back face square
  • Back face, balance or wear defects

Loose Components

  • All thrust faces free of wear
  • Square off all surfaces
  • Piston ring groove and flinger groove
  • Piston ring to groove tolerance
  • Bore to shaft tolerance

Turbine Shaft Wheel

  • Wheel blades for fractures or blade defection
  • Heat erosion on blade tips
  • Shaft journal surfaces
  • Bearing to journal tolerance
  • Piston ring seal area and flinger groove
  • Piston ring to groove tolerance
  • Shaft run-out
  • Shaft wheel balance
  • The square of shaft-step-down and threads

Backplates, Inserts
